LAFC Surprises Club America

BMO Stadium had a midweek festival hosting the three-time back-to-back champion Club America, in the middle of their season and with 5 victories and one draw in the current Liga MX Clausura 2025 tournament. Los Angeles Football Club, on the other hand, is going through its preseason. In the first time, which ended scoreless, the excessive amount of games by the Mexican team and the lack of them in the Major League Soccer roster were notable. In the second portion of the match, more occasions were created.


LAFC step to their stadium with a starting XI that seems likely to be in either its home opener against Minnesota United or their first competitive match in CONCACAF Cup traveling to Colorado to play against the Rapids: Hugo Lloris in goal; Eddie Segura and Aaron Long as central defenders; Sergi Palencia and Rayan Hollinhshead in the back; Igor Jesus, former LA Galaxy player Mark Delgado and Timothy Tilman in the midfield; and 17-year old David Martinez, Denis Bouanga and Oliver Giroud in the attack.


¨Las Águilas¨ had Rodolfo Cota in goal; Ramon Juarez and Israel Reyes as central defenders; Dagoberto Espinoza and Cristian Borja in then wings; a four-player midfield with Rochard and Erick Sanchez in the middle and Alejandro Zendejas and former LAFC player Brian Rodriguez in the wings; and Alvaro Fidalgo playing with freedom and Victor Davila as a solitary striker.


The first half did not have clear chances. However, the second half brought the excitement to the BMO stands. Denis Bouanga scored the first goal in the first minute of the second half after a mistake between two America defenders were well-taken by the Gabonese DP player. In the 60th minute, Bouanga was involved with an assist from the left side of the field, Wiah a wonderful first touch, Salvadorian-American attacker Nathan Ordaz placed the ball at the net to place the temporal 2-goal advantage. A double save by Hugo Lloris made the victory of the MLS team almost eminent.


The first half had America with the ball possession. The last 45 minutes of the match brought 9 substitutions from the Liga MX current champions, and some clear chances at the end of the game. Richard Sanchez scored at the 63rd minute, placinf the final score of the game. Thus, the team with the most tittles in Mexico sucumbed against one of the newest Major League Soccer members.

LAFC travels to Colorado to play against the Rapids on Tuesday, February 18. ¨Las Águilas¨ , fulfilling an already busy schedule, travel to Aguascalientes to where they will play against Necaxa this Friday, three days after their game in Los Angeles.
