In the recent UEFA Champions League quarter-final matches, Real Madrid faced Manchester City in a thrilling two-leg encounter.

In the first leg held at the Santiago Bernabeu on April 9, 2024, the match ended in a 3-3 draw. Manchester City's Bernardo Silva opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, but Real Madrid quickly responded with an own goal by Ruben Dias and a strike from Rodrygo. City's Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol scored to give them the lead again, only for Real Madrid's Federico Valverde to equalize, setting the stage for an intense second leg​ 


The second leg took place at the Etihad Stadium on April 17, 2024. Real Madrid took an early lead through Rodrygo, but Kevin De Bruyne equalized for City in the 76th minute. The match ended 1-1, and with the aggregate score tied at 4-4, it went to a penalty shootout. Real Madrid won 4-3 on penalties, with Antonio Rudiger scoring the decisive penalty after City missed two crucial spot-kicks​.

Real Madrid will now face Bayern Munich in the semi-finals, while Manchester City will focus on their remaining domestic competitions​
