DOS A CERO, AGAIN!

By Josue Lopez

The United States National Team defeated Mexico 2-0 in the Nations League final for the second time. This tendency, among other seven games in five years, makes the USMNT dominance clearer than ever before. A t & T Stadium witnessed a great performance from one team, and a lack of resources from the other.

The United starting XI had Matt Turner in goal; Tim Ream and Chris Richards on defense; Serginho Dest and Antonie Robinson in the wings; Tayer Adams and Weston McKennie as defensive midfielders; Gio Reyna playing with freedom around Timotty Weah, Cristian Pulisic, and Haji Wright on the attack.

The green, white, and red had Guillermo Ochoa on goal; Jesus Gallardo and Jesus Sanchez on the sides: Cesar Montes and Johan Vazquez as central defenders: Edson Alvarez, Erick Sanchez, Luis Chavez as midfielders; and Jaime Lozano, Uriel Antuna and Henry Martin as strikers.

Most of the chances, if not all of them, had the clearest chances. In the fifth minute, Gio Reyna took the ball through the left side, flipped the ball through the Mexican defense. Christian Pulisic stroke the ball which ended with a safe from ¨Memo¨ Ochoa. Serginho Dest made a great play to the left side as well, but nothing that affected the final score.

With a close game where individual plays were the source the US utilize to threat Mexico´s goal, a long-distance shot from Tayler Adams that placed the first goal. Timothy Weah took the ball on the right side, secured it with Weston McKennie. Tayler Adams was practically by himself. Thus, once the ball was on his feet, he strokes it to score the first goal out of two.

Even though Mexico changed his formation from two wingers and one striker to a classic number 10 and two attacker, Orbelin Pineda and Santiago Gimenez and Henry Martin as strikers, the result ended up being worse for Jaime Lozano´s team.

At the 63tth minute, Pulisic took the ball on the left side of the penalty area, dribbled a couple of Mexican players, place it in the area where Johan Vazquez rebounded to the center. With a karate kid kick style, Gio Reyna placed the ball to the net.

Santiago Gimenez only provoked a penalty that was reviewed by VAR. It was ruled out.

Thus, once again, United State 2, Mexico 0. DOS A CERO.
